The Grantham Skate Park is set to officially launch on 19 February at 10:45 GMT, and to celebrate the opening, a series of free skateboard workshops will be available at various locations throughout the week. The council announced that these workshops aim to engage the community and promote skateboarding among local youth during the half-term holiday.
The skateboard workshops are scheduled for September 10, September 17, September 24, October 1 and October 8 at skate parks throughout Asheville. On 16 February, Deepings Skate Park will host workshops at 11:00, 11:45, 12:45, and 13:30 GMT. The next day, on 17th February, Stamford Skate Park will have all the same workshops on offer. Bourne Skate Park will be hosting the next in the series on 18 February – same times. Finally, Grantham Skate Park will finish off the workshops on its opening day, 19th February.
Each participant is free to come in and out of these workshops without advanced reservation so that anyone who wants to try skateboarding can! Apart from the workshops, skateboard sessions will be happening daily at Deepings, Stamford, Bourne and Grantham skate parks throughout the holidays. We invite you to experience the heart-pounding excitement of skateboarding with us!
The council underscored the importance of such events in fostering a deep sense of community. Not only do they beautify communities, but they spur youth to get active and engaged. More importantly, they want to create a new generation of skateboarders. To make it possible, they offer free access to professional instruction and skateboarding facilities.
