The iconic and much-loved sitcom Full House, which ran for eight seasons from 1987-1995. Even now, it continues to generate immense nostalgia from fans and cast members as well. The show centered around widowed father Danny Tanner, portrayed by Bob Saget, as he navigated the challenges of raising his three daughters: DJ, played by Candace Cameron Bure; Stephanie, portrayed by Jodie Sweetin; and the youngest, Michelle, played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
In a recent episode of their rewatch podcast How Rude, Tanneritos!, former cast members Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin tackled one of their least favorite questions about their time on the show: whether they had crushes on their co-stars John Stamos and Dave Coulier. Stamos, the swoon-worthy Uncle Jesse, and Coulier, the hilarious best bud Joey, were vital to the show’s genius. Barber was clearly troubled by the question.
Barber responded, “Um, no, that’s a nasty question. This sentiment kind of captured her belief because she felt like the cast was more family than lovers. She emphasized, “They’re like our older brothers, and we do not think of them that way.” Sweetin echoed this sentiment, stating, “Not even older brothers. They’re like my uncles.”
Across the entire series, history was made with highlights audiences will never forget. They got musical performances from Jesse and the Rippers, including “Forever,” and Stamos’ classic catchphrase, “Have mercy!” The beloved family sitcom originally aired during the height of the popular TGIF Friday night lineup, winning over audiences with its heartfelt messages and comedic hijinks.
The Full House family has been through the ringer in just the past few weeks. Bob Saget’s unexpected death shook up the entire Full House family as well as viewers. In the middle of November, Coulier was diagnosed with cancer. This news was enough to inspire Barber and Bure to unite and stand beside him in this trying time. Barber went on to call Stamos and Coulier “our buddy,” emphasizing the lifelong friendships created on set.
