Fiona Howden competed with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh on her visit to the Cornbury House Horse Trials. As a result, they brought an outstanding contingent and stole the show, having a great time at the event! Course designer David Howden started the horse trials in 2020. They were held at Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire and featured Olympic and world champion eventing, a feast of local produce, a new family entertainment zone – and no shortage of iconic British summer vibes.
In 2014, David Howden established the Howden Group, an independent, employee-owned insurance firm. As a way to combine agricultural equestrian excellence with the community enjoyment of a cultural sport, he created the horse trials. This year’s event had a number of high-profile competitors and guests, including Zara Tindall, who competed, and Katherine Foster-Brown & Mark Foster-Brown.
Fiona Howden turned heads in a stunning blue paisley-print belted dress. She finished her outfit off with an incredible long beaded necklace and super fashionable tan leather booties. She and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, formed a rather dashing set on the dais. The married women are best known for their almost sisterly relationship with Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
Beyond their stylish look, Fiona Howden joined Jemma Powell to make it to the trials. The proximity of royal friends and acquaintances served to highlight the importance of the event within social circles. David Howden elaborated on his vision for the horse trials, emphasizing the unique variety of its attractions.
“The Cornbury House Horse Trials was founded by David Howden and his family in 2020, an event which combines world-class eventing with a celebration of locally sourced food and drink and family entertainment.” – David Howden
In addition to the impressive equestrian talent, the event deepened a spirit of community among everyone in attendance. The Howdens were very evidently pleased to be friends with the royal family all day long. They connected personally and recognized how special the event was with authentic joy.
