The beloved series “And Just Like That…” is set to conclude its run with the premiere of its third season in May. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, the show has captivated audiences and reignited nostalgia for the iconic “Sex and the City” franchise. Showrunner Michael Patrick King recently declared that this chapter is “closed.” For the cast as well as fans, this decision represents an emotional goodbye.
Sarah Jessica Parker is back in the lead, as are returning superstars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Together, they do a wonderful job recreating the cash-cow nostalgia of their popular “Sex and the City” characters. Parker, who has lived with Carrie for 27 years, said how profoundly connected she was to the role. She noted that Carrie’s influence has dominated her professional life and stated, “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all.”
The series has changed dramatically since it first began, from its focus to its most famous cast member. While the other three ladies returned, Kim Cattrall, notorious money and ego-driven divalike, didn’t come back for the revival. She only returned in a brief cameo during season two. Even with this lack of representation, Parker’s portrayal of Carrie still became a cultural milestone for the show, and for this important role, as King pointed out.
King also shared his thoughts on the surprising trip “And Just Like That…” has taken. He pivotal moment, and move on. He mentioned, “SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season.” As the last two episodes are released, he wishes that they’re satisfying to fans for everything that they’ve put into it.
Parker even posted a video montage to social media recently that elevated Carrie Bradshaw to the echelons of other formidable cultural icons. She thanked everyone for the amazing experiences on the show. She conveyed a heartfelt message: “I hope you love these final two episodes as much as we all do.”
Meanwhile, Kristin Davis expressed her sadness regarding the end of the series, stating, “I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love.”
In an exuberant photocall in Paris, Parker was flanked by co-stars Nixon and Davis. Joining them, too, were their fellow cast members Sarita Choudhury and Nicole Ari Parker. Thursday’s event highlighted the strong bond between the cast who go to such emotional extremes as they get ready to say goodbye to their characters.
Sex and the City stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis expressed their sentiments about the show’s upcoming end on Instagram. In celebration of this historic achievement, they wrote a little about what it was like to film together.
