Ezra Miller will star in the lead role in what sounds like a very cool new vampire film. Acclaimed filmmaker Lynne Ramsay will helm this action-packed project. Today’s announcement represents an exciting new chapter in their already productive working relationship. They last collaborated on the critically lauded 2011 feature “We Need to Talk About Kevin.” Miller’s wide smile indicated his enthusiasm about the prospect of teaming up with Ramsay again. He calls her “one of my best friends in the world” and “one of the greatest living filmmakers.”

The actor confirmed their participation in the project after attending the 2025 Cannes Film Festival to support Ramsay’s film “Die My Love.” It was during this period that Miller addressed their fraught love affair with the seventh art, describing it as “tentative.” This reflection follows a personal and public crucible period defined by courtroom battles and a public and private health crisis.

More recently, Miller has faced significant legal challenges. One particularly egregious obstacle was a burglary charge in Vermont, which only recently was dropped after the state’s attorney entered a plea deal. In addition to harassment, the actor has reached plea agreements in several states related to a suite of criminal charges. In light of these experiences, Miller has openly discussed their mental health journey, stating they are “suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.”

Then, in a frank admission, Miller admitted the education that was gained through this variable fiery period. “I’m really, really grateful for the lessons that came with that abyss,” they said, reflecting on their past challenges and how they have shaped their current perspective.
