Eponine London Ends Its Journey, Leaving Duchess of Cambridge Disappointed

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is in for an unpleasant surprise. According to one of her other favorite fashion brands, Eponine London, the company will cease production after fifteen years of business. Jet Shrenkman launched the London-based luxury womenswear label in 2011. The brand quickly became known for its quirky interpretation of retro circle 50s and 60s style silhouettes, catching the gaze of fashionistas and royalty, such as the Duchess of Cambridge, the world over.

The Duchess of Cambridge has often worn Eponine London designs to royal appearances at their highest level. Royal Opera House, royal banquets, and so forth. Notably, in November 2021, she wore a striking black dress with shimmering silver buttons and a pleated skirt to the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance held at the Royal Albert Hall. It was a memorable occasion for sure, as it became one of her countless appearances in Eponine London smart casuals.

In December 2022, Catherine debuted a beautiful burgundy coatdress by the same designer. She debuted it when she hosted her ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service at Westminster Abbey. This was a killer event to demonstrate her deep love for Eponine London. The label created an equally beautiful belted sapphire blue midi dress that the Duchess wore when launching the National Emergencies Trust in November 2019. Most famously, in 2018 she donned a striking red coat from the brand on her inaugural visit to Wales. The outing marked the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Eponine London is widely praised for its tailor-made slow fashion couture, known for the unapologetic use of deep hues and vibrant prints. The brand built a reputation for providing timeless pieces that resonate with modern elegance and have captured the attention of fashion icon Catherine, alongside other favorites such as Zara, Alexander McQueen, and L.K. Bennett.

The news of Eponine London’s closure comes as a blow to fans of both the brand and the Duchess’s fashion choices. Jet Shrenkman shared her sentiments regarding this significant decision, stating, “This feels surreal to write after fifteen years of business, but I wanted to tell you that AW25 will be our last Eponine collection.”
