Today Ego Nwodim shared via Instagram that she was departing Saturday Night Live. She’s the newest cast member to leave the famed sketch comedy show, as it prepares to begin its historic 51st season in fall 2025. This is how she released her announcement on September 13, 2025. In an emotional Instagram post, the actress looked back on her five-season run with the show.
Nwodim first became a cast member on SNL in 2018. She dazzled fans right out of the gate with her exceptional impressions and original characters. One of her greatest roles was being singer Dionne Warwick during a cast confessional which hit a chord with fans and highlighted her beautiful voice and sense of humor. She went on to develop memorable new characters, such as “Lisa from Temecula.” This choice made her even more of a superstar on a competition show.
In her Instagram goodbye, Nwodim said she was deeply thankful for everything she’d experienced in the past few years. She expressed gratitude to everyone that contributed to her journey, such as Lorne Michaels, her fellow castmates, writers, and crew.

Nwodim’s exit comes on the heels of a noticeable exodus from the show. Other ensemble players such as Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow, and Heidi Gardner have departed this year as well. Each departure is an era defining change in the SNL landscape as the show looks ahead to its next SNL chapter.
Nwodim’s post was succinctly captioned with three exclamation points, “‼️‼️‼️,” capturing her mixed emotions about leaving a place she has called home for seven unforgettable seasons.
