Dua Lipa Concludes First Leg of Radical Optimism Tour with Surprise Performance

Dua Lipa wrapped up the first leg of her highly anticipated Radical Optimism world tour with a spectacular concert in Auckland, New Zealand, on Friday night. That final performance at Spark Arena was the last hold-out in Australia and New Zealand. During those three weeks, she wowed audiences across the city with ten sold-out performances.

At the Auckland show, Dua Lipa thrilled her audience. Perhaps that’s why she invited her new favourite musical deity – Neil Finn, the legendary Crowded House frontman – to join her onstage! Their impromptu hearts and souls into a moving cover of Crowded House’s timeless anthem, “Don’t Dream It’s Over.” The crowd was utterly blown away by their set. As Finn strode onstage, he was greeted by rapturous applause from fans, underscoring why he is considered a Kiwi musical legend.

Dua Lipa expressed her admiration for Finn’s work, sharing with the crowd, “I get to do one of my favorite songs by a Kiwi legend.” Tears flowed freely during the show, but the artists’ loving hug was the emotional performance’s high-water mark. Finn then offered up a quick peace sign before exiting to the delight of the fervent crowd.

In addition to Finn, Dua Lipa acknowledged singer-songwriter Kita Alexander, who opened each show on this leg of the tour. She specifically teased the surprise guest collaborations at her shows in Australia and New Zealand. Troye Sivan, Vance Joy, Tame Impala, and Angus Stone were among the notable artists who joined her onstage.

The concert in Auckland was a pretty cataclysmic send-off for the first leg of the Radical Optimism tour. It was the start of an equally thrilling second chapter of her international odyssey. Dua Lipa stepped off the inaugural stage and directly onto Instagram, sharing behind-the-scenes photos and thoughts on the colorful, chaotic launch.

In her post, she shared her excitement for the journey ahead, hinting to fans with the text “EUROPE UP NEXT.” We’re excited to have the tour kicking back up in Madrid, Spain on May 11. Stay tuned for more memorable moments as 2023 Grammy Award winner Dua Lipa enchants fans all over the globe!
