Dollar General Recalls Clover Valley Instant Coffee Due to Glass Contamination Risk

Dollar General has announced a voluntary recall. They are recalling three batches of their 8-ounce Clover Valley Instant Coffee because the products could include glass shards. This recall affects ground coffee sold at Dollar General locations across 48 states. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publicly announced this decision on August 14, 2025.

The affected coffee jars contain specific codes: L-5163, L-5164, and L-5165. L-5163 and L-5164 are planned to remain active until December 13, 2026. In the meantime, L-5165Lc will remain alive and kicking until at least 14 December 2026. Consumers who have purchased these products should stop using them right away and throw them out.

In agreement to the lawsuit, Dollar General has provided customers affected by the recall a full refund of their purchase price, tax included. The company has instituted programs that push customers to ask for refunds. It’s simple to contact them directly by writing customercare@dollargeneral.com or calling 1-888-309-9030. Customer service hours are 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. CST, seven days per week.

“The recall is being initiated after a customer notified Dollar General employees about the potential issue,” said a representative from the company.

Dollar General, which is headquartered in Tennessee, said the company is still working to determine the cause of the glass contamination. In its initial announcement, the company said that protecting customers from fraud was a top priority and it sincerely apologized for the inconvenience to customers.

“Dollar General is actively investigating the source of the glass contamination and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this product issue.” – Dollar General

Consumer safety and product integrity should be the top priority for retailers. Consumers who have recently bought Clover Valley Instant Coffee should act right away to protect their health.
