Djokovic’s Pursuit of Seventh Miami Open Title Gains Momentum

Novak Djokovic is in the new, unfamiliar Miami Open headlines as he tries to win his seventh title of the event. The fourth-seeded player is three wins away from 100 professional titles. This accomplishment would solidify him even more as the GOAT of men’s tennis where he already holds an ironclad 24 Grand Slam championships. At one stage in a recent match, Djokovic demonstrated his extraordinary accuracy with an astounding total of just four unforced errors. He made his record against Grigor Dimitrov a ludicrous 13-1.

The match started with Djokovic getting broken by Dimitrov in the opening game – clearly not a good omen. Though that may have rattled him just a bit, he soon regained his focus and wrapped up the first set in only 32 minutes. Following his win, Djokovic suffered a bout of physical collapse, remaining on the court for an additional 25 minutes. Tournament medical personnel then helped him mess to the rear.

Djokovic’s path to the final at the Miami Open follows a disastrous start to the season. He took a medical retirement at the Australian Open in January. Last year, he pulled out at the last minute after falling in his second round match at Indian Wells. It was not until citing a lack of family time that Djokovic chose to step away from the sport altogether last year.

“It is very special having not played here in six years in the best city in the world.” – Djokovic

However discouraging these events might seem, nothing can shake Djokovic’s focus as he takes to the court of the Miami Open. With big wins including the Super Bowl already on his resume, he looks to score one more title for his storied career.
