Delta Jet Crash-Lands in Fiery Incident at Toronto Airport

A Delta Air Lines regional jet crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 17, resulting in a fiery accident that injured 21 people. The CRJ-900 aircraft, operated by Endeavor Airlines as Delta Connection Flight 4819, was en route from Minneapolis when it encountered a disaster upon landing. As the plane touched down, it was tilted 7.5 degrees to the right, leading to the breaking of a landing gear support.

The impact caused the aircraft to veer violently, ripping off one of its wings and rolling the plane upside down. During the crash, approximately 6,000 pounds of jet fuel sprayed across the runway, igniting a fire and explosion. Despite the severity of the incident, all 80 passengers and crew members onboard survived.

“For everyone at Endeavor Air and Delta, nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and our people,” stated Delta Air Lines.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has launched an investigation to determine the underlying causes of the crash. While preliminary findings indicate a mechanical failure with the landing gear, experts are exploring all potential contributing factors.

“Accidents and incidents rarely stem from a single cause,” noted Yoan Marier, chair of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Of the 21 individuals injured in the incident, two sustained serious injuries. Emergency services responded promptly, ensuring that all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft. The airport's emergency protocols were activated immediately to manage the situation and control the ensuing blaze.
