On June 8th, Conner Smith, a Nashville-based rising country music star, survived a devastating car accident. Those preparations could not, unfortunately, prevent this incident from sadly costing pedestrian Steven Dobbins his life. The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. while Dobbins was inside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by Smith’s vehicle. Following the incident, police released Smith at the site of the incident. He is working with law enforcement’s continued investigation of the accident, which is ongoing.
According to police reports, preliminary findings show that Smith failed to give the correct right of way. This likely would have placed the pedestrian in mortal peril. “It appears that she was inside a marked crosswalk when she was struck around 7:30 p.m.,” a police spokesperson stated. In additional details released by law enforcement, the crash occurred at about 9:30 AM. They noted that the failure to yield seemed to be the primary contributing factor.
The victim, Dobbins, was rushed to nearby Vanderbilt University Medical Center but unfortunately passed away from her injuries shortly thereafter. In the wake of this terrible incident came the emergence of Smith’s lawyer Worrick G. Robinson. He provided a comment from the artist to “Good Morning America.”

Robinson underscored Smith’s sympathies for Dobbins’ family as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
