Charles Spencer Welcomes New Puppy Amid Heartfelt Loss

Charles Spencer, the younger brother of the late Princess Diana, recently shared a bittersweet chapter in his life as he navigates the loss of his beloved dog, Otis, while welcoming a new puppy into his home at Althorp. Spencer, 60, has long been known for his fondness for dogs, and this latest addition comes just months after the passing of his nearly 13-year-old companion.

In July, Spencer confirmed via social media that Otis had to be put down. He shared a moving picture of Otis lounging in the doorway of his historic Althorp residence, a reminder of the joy the dog brought to his life. Reflecting on Otis's impact, Spencer stated, “Everyone at Althorp loved Otis – several people here have talked today of his having been a 'total legend.'”

While mourning the loss of Otis, Spencer expanded his family with a new puppy adopted from a local shelter in April 2023. He excitedly introduced the puppy on Instagram Stories, expressing his enthusiasm for the new companionship. “One of these darlings is joining me for a new life at Althorp in a few days. Can't wait!” he shared, hinting at the joy that awaits him.

Spencer's personal life has also seen changes. He is currently dating Professor Cat Jarman, who co-hosts the podcast "Down the Rabbit Hole" with him. In discussing their relationship, Spencer revealed that he feels comfortable being himself around Jarman. “I’m too old for hearts and flowers stuff, but the best way to describe it is that with Cat, I can be myself. She knows who I am. Who I really am. I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not. And she brings out the best in me,” he said.

As a father of seven children, Spencer’s home at Althorp is filled with life and activity. The recent adoption of a puppy brings additional warmth and joy to his household during this transitional period.
