Celebrating Family and Milestones: Ayesha and Stephen Curry’s Journey Together

Ayesha Curry and Stephen Curry have gone from public figures to powerful household names. They happily spent their 13th wedding anniversary together this July 2022. The couple originally met as teens at a music festival in 2003, and then reconnected in 2008, getting married on July 30, 2011. Their journey has been enriched by love, marrying their families into one large, beautiful unit. In March of 2022, Stephen became the first player in NBA history to reach 4,000 made three-pointers.

The Currys are parents to four children: Riley Elizabeth, Ryan Carson, Canon W. Jack, and Caius Chai. Riley arrived into the world kicking and screaming on July 19th, 2012. Ryan was born next on July 10, 2015, and then Canon on July 2, 2018. The whole family is naturally very excited about Caius’s arrival on 5/11/2024. When it came time to finalize a name, Ayesha decided on Canon during an extended honeymoon with Stephen, drawing on its French meaning of “young wolf.”

Ayesha marked their anniversary with a heartfelt note on Instagram, crying over their journey from kids to adults together.

“13 years of being married to the love of my life. I am so excited to see what the next decade brings. 4 babies, 16 years together and a whole lot of memories later and here we are… lucky 13. It just gets better and better. Let’s freaking go!!!!!!” – Ayesha Curry

Their children have become recognizable faces at events like the NBA All-Star Game. Most recently, they renewed their rivalry as they all traveled to Paris together to cheer on Team USA’s men’s basketball team at the upcoming 2024 Olympics. Ayesha noted how family was the center of their world and how their children were the best part of their day.

“My girls especially make me feel beautiful. They’re loaded with compliments, and that’s always such a cup filler-upper,” Ayesha said in an interview. Most importantly, she shared how Stephen’s positive affirmations make her feel like a good person, worthy of life.

“My husband, too, always fills me with sweet nothings and compliments. He always makes me feel beautiful.” – Ayesha Curry

More than a few Stephen shared his honest reflections on fatherhood. He said his kids care about their personal relationship with their dad more than his competitive successes.

“I don’t think they care too much about how many times the ball goes in the basket,” he remarked in an interview. He made it clear that being a dad is what’s most important to him.

“You’re just dad and that’s the best part about it.” – Steph Curry

The family’s life is worlds apart from the idyllic life she had almost a century earlier. Ayesha recounted that there was a period during which she and Stephen both believed they were done having kids.

“For 7 long years, Stephen and I thought we were through,” she posted. Last year, they found themselves reversing that decision and deciding together that they wanted to grow their family again.

“For me, the decision came from always finding myself looking around and feeling like somebody was missing,” Ayesha explained. “I would load up the car and think, ‘Oh, I forgot something.’ But nobody was forgotten.”

Her daughters have been effervescent spirits, with Riley frequently cracking her dad up with comments about how loud he was being while game planning.

“You’re too loud daddy, be quiet,” she has been quoted as saying.

As they continue to navigate their lives as public figures while prioritizing family, Stephen and Ayesha Curry exemplify a modern family balancing personal achievements with parental responsibilities.
