Nashville, Tenn.-based Vietti Food Group is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases. Safety concerns regarding soy allergy risks are driving their action on soy in their canned baked beans. The surprise announcement, first made on May 2, finally appeared as a notice on the FDA website on Monday. This recall affects consumers who have soy allergies or are severely sensitive to soy. Exposure to soy may only cause mild symptoms or anaphylaxis, a life-threatening reaction.
The recall is for canned baked beans store-brand products sold at Food Lion and Ingall’s Markets that may have undeclared soy ingredients. Particularly in the case of consumers with soy allergies, exposure to the product can result in severe injury or death. The FDA advises those with these allergies to remain vigilant. Vietti Food Group has informed us that a complete list of affected retail stores is not yet available. The airline is currently in the process of informing its customers of the recall. Lastly, they’re helping to ensure that the notice directly reaches the end consumers.

The corporation encourages consumers who purchased the recalled product to stop using it immediately. Return it to the original place of purchase to get a full refund of the purchase price.
