Brian Austin Green has opened up about his recent health challenges, including a significant medical scare that led to emergency surgery for a perforated appendix. The actor, known best for his role in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has been outspoken about his struggles with health issues. He deals with ulcerative colitis and vertigo.
In a video shared on Instagram, Green recounted the ordeal that unfolded last week when he experienced severe abdominal pain. He endured a litany of health issues in subsequent years, including assumed “stroke-like symptoms” that doctors were slow to diagnose. This incident brought on his first major operation.
Green shared that he was rolled into surgery just minutes after walking into Providence Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. And he conveyed extreme appreciation for the doctors and nurses who care so deeply for him. This was at the region’s only hospital found within the geographic boundaries of the San Fernando Valley.

Here’s what the actor had to say about his life-threatening situation. He told me that my appendix was on the verge of bursting, but hadn’t yet ruptured. After the surgery, Green endured an arduous recovery process. He recalled having trouble doing even simple things—“I couldn’t even walk. I shuffled like I was 90. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t read. I couldn’t write.”
Green commended the quality care he received at the hospital. He called attention to the dedication of the medical professionals who helped him heal in his darkest times.
“The aftercare was phenomenal. When I tell you every single person who was there was incredibly kind and loving and supportive and helpful — I just want to send a shoutout to them,” – Brian Austin Green
Now improving
After a couple months of ongoing recovery, Green couldn’t be more hopeful for his health. He has previously battled with ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease that primarily affects the colon and rectum, impacting his overall well-being. In 2023, in addition to those MAG-related challenges, he was struggling with vertigo, adding another health obstacle into the mix.
