Montreal-based aerospace company Bombardier has announced plans to construct a new manufacturing facility near its existing locations in western Montreal. This strategic acquisition seeks to broaden the company’s production capacity to meet growing global demand. In addition to its anticipated $100 million cost, the project will produce thousands of skilled job opportunities for the region.
Quebec’s Economy Minister Christine Fréchette will officially announce a $35 million repayable loan from an Investissement Québec program to support Bombardier’s expansion efforts. The funding will help accelerate the development of the new facility. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.
Bombardier’s president and CEO, Éric Martel, emphasized that the strong international demand prompted the company to consider increasing its production rate. This expansion would create 500 new jobs at Bombardier’s Dorval plant. That’s where they produce the Challenger 3500 business jet.
Fléchette stressed the importance of this local investment to support the regional economy. She went on to say that by backing the expansion of Bombardier’s facilities, it would create significant economic spinoffs for Quebec’s aerospace supply chain.
“This investment will also lead to the creation of hundreds of highly skilled, well‑paid jobs, while strengthening Quebec’s expertise,” – Christine Fréchette
The new facility is further evidence of Bombardier’s commitment to operational efficiency. It positively addresses the increasing demands of a highly competitive market. By expanding its production capacity, the company hopes to contribute to consolidating its role as a world leader of the aerospace industry.
