Bad Bunny captivated fans during his milestone performance at the “No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí” residency on September 20, 2025, at San Juan’s iconic El Choli arena. The concert coincided with the eighth anniversary of Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico as a Category 4 storm in 2017. This historic date, Puerto Rico’s emancipation day, added further emotional gravity to the event, turning it into a crucible of celebration and deep-felt affection for Puerto Rico.
The performance marked the simultaneous celebration of Bad Bunny’s sixth studio album, released on the same date, January 5. He referred to it as a love letter to his homeland. The collaborative project weaves folkloric genres such as bomba and plena into poetic storytelling that reflects on the issues of gentrification, migration and cultural preservation. At some point during the concert, Bad Bunny had repeated just how much he loved Puerto Rico, uttering the phrase, “Te amo, Puerto Rico.”
Throughout the show, Bad Bunny shared the stage with a rotating lineup of stars, including LeBron James, Penélope Cruz, and DJ Khaled. He shared the stage with Puerto Rican music icons including Rubén Blades, Residente and Gilberto Santa Rosa. The unexpected collab finale with Marc Anthony had everyone shook. Then he got on stage and did a song he hadn’t voiced in almost 20 years, completely blowing our minds with something very special.
Bad Bunny’s concert was not only a celebration of his new album but a testament to his enduring passion for music. He declared, “I have always had the same passion, love for what I’m doing. I promise I will never change. I love you, Puerto Rico. I love you, Mom and Dad.”
Through the wonderful talent she assembled, the concert she’d convened became a historic moment. For the first time ever, it was broadcasted live globally across Amazon Music, Prime Video, and Twitch. During this performance, Bad Bunny made history as it was the first time he ever streamed a concert from Puerto Rico to the world.
He’s about to launch the Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour on November 21 in Santo Domingo. The ambitious tour will include more than 50 shows on four continents, ending July 22, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium.
