Air Canada Expands Service from Billy Bishop Airport with New U.S. Routes

Well, Air Canada just announced something HUGE! The airline is continuing to grow its service from Toronto’s downtown Billy Bishop Airport, offering nonstop flights to key U.S. markets including New York, Boston, Chicago and Washington, D.C. This strategic move aims to strengthen the airline’s presence in the highly trafficked Eastern Triangle, catering primarily to business travelers seeking efficient travel options.

The expansion introduces an important change to the airport Billy Bishop. For the first time ever, travelers can now clear U.S. pre-clearance customs directly at the airport.

This new service is expected to begin in the spring of 2026. It will offer travelers increased convenience and more efficient processes for their journeys to the United States.

New Flight Schedule Details

Starting March 29, 2026, Air Canada will provide up to four daily return flights between Toronto and New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). We’ve heard that business travelers looking for same-day return travel options are the primary users of this service. Hot on their heels, the airline will add three daily return flights to Boston Logan Airport (BOS) starting July 1, 2026.

In addition, Air Canada will open up three daily return flights to Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) as of June 1, 2026. On the same date, they’ll introduce one daily return flight to Washington Dulles Airport (IAD). All flights will be operated by Air Canada’s 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, one of the industry’s most environmentally-friendly and quietest regional aircraft.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of this move. “

“The new transborder routes will especially benefit our loyal customers and business travellers by creating frequent and easy connections between the heart of Canada’s financial capital and the major markets of New York, Boston, Washington and Chicago.” – Mark Galardo

Increased Domestic Service

Besides its new U.S. routes, Air Canada will improve its domestic offerings. Beginning in January 2026, the airline will increase its flight frequency from Toronto Island to Montreal. Their answer will be expanding the daily return flights from eight to nine. In addition, Ottawa will see service increase from four to six return flights per day.

Air Canada looks forward to delivering solid connectivity for everyone traveling from coast to coast to coast. With these changes, crucial markets will be served for both domestic and international travelers.

A Historic Milestone

Galardo noted that this expansion is an important landmark for Air Canada at Billy Bishop Airport.

“This is our most significant expansion at Toronto Island since Air Canada first served the airport 35 years ago.” – Mark Galardo

This plan underscores the airline’s expansion plans. It is meeting the evolving needs of its customers.
