Aimee Lou Wood recently opened up about her working relationship with Walton Goggins during an appearance at the 2025 Met Gala. The two stars previously collaborated on HBO’s acclaimed limited series “The White Lotus.” According to Wood, Goggins was instrumental as a motivator and coach, labeling their six months together as the “best thing ever.” This surprising announcement only adds to the speculation fire surrounding their relationship. It follows barely a week before he’s scheduled to make his first guest appearance ever on “Saturday Night Live.”
In an awkward but unproductive sit down interview with The Times, Goggins refused to issue criticism towards Wood, which shocked many. It was this commentary gap that prompted Wood to think more about how Americans are judging the social media behavior of public figures. Neither actor was listening to the other at first. As of Tuesday, the two started to follow each other on social media—a sign that they may be on the verge of transforming their public social media relationship.
Among the dangers of social media analysis that Wood emphasized is the arresting fact that it can go too far. She said simply, “It did get very crazy. This goes to show just how quickly the public can misinterpret personal interactions.
Wood is a huge fan of Goggins, and is looking forward to his May 10 “SNL” debut. She signaled pretty unequivocally that she would not be appearing as his guest. “I couldn’t say, but I’m not doing that,” she explained during her interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Bowen Yang, an “SNL” cast member, chimed in on the controversy. He pointed out Wood’s criticism of the show’s parodying of “The White Lotus.” As Yang added, there is no reason why comedians shouldn’t be held accountable for their jokes. He remarked, “You need those reminders every now and then that parody can go too far sometimes.” Yang was hoping that the case of Wood would spark a serious discussion about limits in comedy.
Wood also opened up about attending the Met Gala. She said the mood was beautiful and reinforced how key a sense of fellowship with peers is. She stated, “You just can’t really engage too much. It’s very good to learn boundaries. Say something, know that you said it, feel good about it.”
Even though Goggins will be getting his time in the spotlight when he hosts his “SNL” episode, Wood is still excited for him to fully shine. She remarked, “Obviously, he’s going to be incredible doing SNL. It’s the perfect thing for him to do. He’s going to be hilarious.”
