A-level students up and down England, Wales and Northern Ireland have taken their final exams. For many, this important milestone signifies the conclusion of a long and arduous academic journey. On Thursday 14 August 2025, these students will get their AS and A-level results. This day is important for all students, but especially those who want to pursue higher education or enter the workforce.
On results day, students can collect their results in person starting at 08:00 BST. That allows them a chance to recognize their success in front of their classmates and professors. Students can find out their results by email. The process isn’t the same from school/college to school/college.
If you feel that your grading has been done in error, please contact your respective school or college. They’re better equipped to assist you or correct the problem! These institutions are well prepared to manage those emerging problems and walk students through the process to fix what is wrong.
The A-levels rigorous national grading process carried out by subject specialists each summer means a level playing field across all examining boards. Today on results day, students will nervously work out whether they’ve passed their exams. It’s hard to overstate how much these results will shape their work going forward. An A* grade, for example, is worth 56 points, whereas a D grade is worth 24 points. These scores are heavily weighted in university admissions and other professional careers.
We want students to be ready for the emotional rollercoaster that is results day. While a few will rejoice in exceptional success, the rest will face unanticipated results. It’s especially important for students to be resilient and to reach out to friends, family, or school counselors if they need help.
