Porter Airlines Expands Horizons with New Routes from Montreal Metropolitan Airport

Porter Airlines, Canada’s third-largest carrier, is set to unveil a further dozen new routes this summer. They will fly these routes from the new Montreal Metropolitan Airport. The airline has pumped a staggering 500 million dollars to upgrade the airport. This transportation change will help the program become a travel marketplace that offers a world-class range of seamless, convenient travel choices to Canadians.

Situated on Montreal’s South Shore in Longueuil, the airport is only 20 minutes from downtown Montreal. The new terminal features large concourse areas decorated with pleather chairs. It provides you with USB ports to make your travel more convenient. Thanks to exclusivity clauses, the airport will only be able to host domestic flights, barring any international travel options.

Porter Airlines will soon be operating 138 flights per week from this revamped hub. This hub is capable of processing an incredible four million passengers annually. The airline will connect travelers to major Canadian cities such as Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax, and St. John’s, N.L.

It’s a strategic advantage Michael Deluce, President and CEO of Porter Airlines, noted how the new location would benefit residents.

“Half of the Montreal market residential population lives closer to this airport,” – Michael Deluce

He pointed out that the airport provides a very easy choice for prospective visitors coming from beyond Montreal.

“People go to the airport that’s closest for them. But on top of that, this is a very convenient way for people outside of Montreal to come and visit Montreal and get to downtown,” – Michael Deluce

Deluce emphasized that the new terminal represents a huge leap forward. It’s a radical change from the airline’s former service at Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto.

“I refer to this as Billy Bishop on steroids,” – Michael Deluce

Porter Airlines was originally incorporated in 2006 by Robert Deluce, who today acts as the executive chairman of the company. The decision to expand operations from the Montreal Metropolitan Airport aligns with Porter’s vision of providing accessible and efficient air travel across Canada.

With the new routes and enhanced facilities, Porter Airlines aims to tap into the growing demand for domestic travel, especially as restrictions ease and travel preferences shift post-pandemic. The investment in the airport is expected to bolster economic activity in the region and provide more options for travelers seeking convenience and comfort.
