KPop Demon Hunters Triumph at 2026 Academy Awards

The songwriters of “KPop Demon Hunters” celebrated a significant achievement at the 2026 Academy Awards, held on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Though it lost the Golden Globe to Coco, the film went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It included the hit song “Golden,” produced by an all-star production team including Ejae, Joong Gyu Kwak, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, Teddy Park, Yuhan, EJAE, ZHUN, Mark Sonnenblick and NHD.

“KPop Demon Hunters” outperformed other notable contenders such as “Sinners,” “Train Dreams,” “Viva Verdi,” and “Diane Warren: Relentless” to secure the prestigious award. As it turns out, unsurprisingly, it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature! It eclipsed the likes of “Zootopia 2,” “Elio,” “Arco,” and “Little Amélie or the character of Rain.” This remarkable acknowledgement is a testament to the film’s influence within the animation industry and its unique ability to resonate with audiences around the globe.

Ejae, one of the key songwriters, delivered a comprehensive speech during the Oscars broadcast, expressing gratitude towards the film’s fans and supporters. Meanwhile, down on Broadway, Yuhan Lee had his surprise turn when the orchestra preemptively played him off the stage, forcing the end of his speech. He used the opportunity in the press room to share that thanks. He concluded by thanking his family and collaborators for their priceless contributions to the project.

During their acceptance speeches the composers of “KPop Demon Hunters” thanked their families and collaborative teams. Mark Sonnenblick notably expressed his appreciation for the film’s fans, underscoring their essential role in making the movie what it is today. The recognition of their work at such a prestigious event signifies the growing influence of K-pop culture in the global entertainment landscape.

The music and choreography by celebrated K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey have added to development of an engaging narrative that makes the film so colorful and lively. Their performances have both enchanted audiences and proved invaluable to the film’s success.
