New Pre-Loved Uniform Shop Set to Open at Queensgate Shopping Centre

It’ll be serving customers from its Roots and Rise outlet in Queensgate Shopping Centre from this Wednesday. This back-to-school initiative provides low-cost school uniforms to families in their neighborhoods. This not only encourages sustainability but helps take their financial toll during the back-to-school season.

Roots and Rise unit as an energetic community hub. As a result, it empowers local residents and encourages creativity, critical thinking, and collective social action. The shop will provide foundation items like blazers, shirts, trousers, and other school essentials. Further, it engages the whole community by inviting donations of pre-loved, good-quality school uniforms.

You may leave donations at the Roots and Rise mobile unit. You can find it on the lower level of the same shopping centre as the mall. This new initiative follows the success of the uniforms council-led uniform swap shop held back in July. We were pleasantly surprised that such an event would draw well over 100 registrants!

Councillor Katy Cole remarked on the significance of the new shop, stating that it is a “fantastic community initiative and a much-needed one.” The uniform swap previously championed reusing school uniforms, significantly alleviating stress for families during the back-to-school period, according to Danielle Daboh.

By facilitating the exchange of pre-loved uniforms, the new shop contributes to the growing movement of sustainability and community support. The local independent authority is focused on supporting families’ needs through this period. This effort is just one facet of a broader effort to build community resilience and resourcefulness.
