New Family Centre Aims to Revitalize Community Services

We’re delighted and proud to present the Isle of Man’s new family centre. Famed for her contributions through the Family Library, Jennie Thompson heads this collaborative, electric effort. This ambitious project is expected to provide valuable services to a neighborhood that Thompson felt “deserved saving.” While the centre’s main focus will be as a library, its commitment goes beyond that, serving as a hub to host diverse community activities and events.

Jennie Thomson, thanking everyone for their amazing private and public support. She recognized specific contributors for their warmhearted assistance. She emphasized how crucial this support has been in bringing the new centre to life. She noted that the local community engagement made all the difference in getting their project off the ground.

“The impact of the closure was tangible,” – Ms. Thompson

This new family centre will be available for hire by other community groups and businesses on Sundays and Mondays to help support the financial sustainability of the centre. This broader initiative is intended to increase diverse community engagement. It will earn money to help fund the centre’s long-term operations.

In her remarks, Thompson noted that letters and messages from various community members highlighted the need for such a facility. More than anything, the support showed the Family Library what its presence means to residents. It drove home the point that this new institution has the potential to greatly influence this community.

“This is long term – this isn’t a short fix, this isn’t just a band-aid – we’re here for good,” – Ms. Thompson

When the charity responsible for the Family Library launched in 2013, it did so with focus. It was intended to foster reconciliation and mutual understanding among people through cultural activities—like art, music, cuisine—and sport. Thompson emphasized the active purpose behind the new family space. He said that it establishes a tremendous platform to build upon in coming years.

Catherine Nicoll, a local activist and entrepreneur from the Isle of Man, has appeared in some media concerning the project. Her participation speaks to the collaboration that powers this challenge. It celebrates the restoration of neighborhood amenities and community spaces enhancing a special culture of place that makes locals feel at home.
