Lost Memories Found: Couple Reunited with SD Card Containing Travel Photos

Nicole Robertson and Scott Simpson, a couple from Calgary, recently experienced a remarkable turn of events after losing an SD card filled with cherished travel memories. The couple just relocated to Canada from the UK. That’s why earlier in 2023, they resigned from their jobs in order to start one of the most amazing adventures of their lives—traveling around the globe.

On October 2, Scott Simpson hiked one of the fjords, Lake Minnewanka, in Banff National Park. He feared that the SD card must have slipped out of their camera bag on the walk. The pair documented remarkable scenery and experiences as they traversed through Southeast Asia, Europe and back home in Canada. They toured amazing landscapes such as the Rockies, Vancouver Island, and Niagara Falls.

The loss of the SD card was heartbreaking for them, as it held irreplaceable memories from their outings. As luck would have it, an attentive hiker came across the misplaced SD card and made an effort to return it.

The discovery was posted to a Mississippi local facebook group by the good samaritan. That’s how Robertson and Simpson found out about the nature-based recovery. They recovered the SD card from the missing hiker on October 12, ten days after it evidently got lost in the wilderness.

“I just, I can’t believe it, really,” – Scott Simpson

In return for their kindness Robertson and Simpson presented the stranger with chocolates and biscuits to thank him further for his selfless act. Even a 10% chance of getting the SD card back would be a big win, Simpson thought.

“It was literally like a one-in-a-million chance,” – Scott Simpson

This bittersweet incident specifically should be a joyful reminder of the extraordinary kindness and creativity that can arise in local communities. It’s a call to action to remember those memories. This is especially important for those who have made major lifestyle changes, like Robertson and Simpson.
