Dolly Parton Postpones Las Vegas Residency Amid Health Concerns

Dolly Parton, the iconic country music star, has announced the postponement of her highly anticipated residency “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” originally scheduled for December 4-13 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. This event was on the same weekend as the National Finals Rodeo. It was Parton’s first long-term engagement in Las Vegas in more than 30 years. The residency was positioned as a major highlight for both fans and the artist herself, who expressed excitement about performing her beloved hits.

Parton spoke about her recent health difficulties in a statement, saying that she’s been diagnosed with an ongoing health condition. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” she stated. She was a warrior about protecting the details of her health problems. She jokingly referred to a “100,000-mile check-up” and quickly clarified that it was not related to her plastic surgeon.

Parton reiterated her dedication to providing a great Super Bowl performance. She admitted that her recently worsening health would make it impossible for her to train properly for the performance. “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see,” she explained.

The residency is sure to include her beloveds such as “9 to 5” and “Jolene.” It will feature popular songs too, like “I Will Always Love You” and “Coat of Many Colors.” Fans had been looking forward to these shows for over two years. Parton hadn’t stepped foot on a Las Vegas stage in over 20 years.

In a heartfelt message on social media, Freida Parton, Dolly’s sister, urged fans to join her in prayer for Dolly’s health. She urged supporters to be “prayer warriors” as she faces this tough time. Parton herself has always been up front about the necessity of prayer and consistently rallied her fans in spiritual defense.

“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” – Dolly Parton.

In her statement, Parton calmed her fans’ nerves by saying that she’s still looking ahead to performing when possible. “I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding,” she said.

Even now, at 77, Dolly Parton remains one of the most beloved stars in any industry. Her recent appearances, including a performance at the world premiere of “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs In Symphony” in Nashville on March 20, 2025, and attending the opening of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s new exhibit ‘Dolly Parton: Journey of a Seeker’ on May 19, 2025, showcase her enduring spirit and dedication to her craft.
