Meghan Markle was a knockout at the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week. With her impeccable fashion sense and linguistic flourish, she wowed the audience. It is symbolic that the Duchess of Sussex made her return to Europe for the first time since leaving in 2023 first to the Netherlands. She was there to support Pierpaolo Piccioli, recently installed Creative Director for Balenciaga.
Markle stole the show though with her sleek, white coordinated look. She paired them with the tailored trousers, crisp button-up, and matching shawl cape that came together to show off her sophisticated style. After the show, she changed into a stunning black dress featuring an asymmetrical neckline for the Balenciaga after-party, further demonstrating her fashion acumen.
The event did not only showcase Markle’s fashion sense, but her remarkable language skills. Fluent in Spanish, which she learned while living in Buenos Aires and Madrid, and proficient in French, Markle utilized her linguistic abilities during her solo outing in Paris. Her personal dedication to learning the French language is represented in her 100-day streak on popular language learning platform Duolingo.
Markle’s multilingual talents came into the public eye when she and Prince Harry visited Morocco in early 2019. As Dr. Cindy Blanco notes, “In a lot of jobs, having multiple languages can be really attractive in helping you network.” She further adds, “It gives people a heightened idea of your intelligence, even if you probably didn’t work hard at learning it because you did it effortlessly as a child.”
During her stay in Paris, Markle took to social media to document her experiences. She even put together an Instagram reel to highlight her inspiring journey. And she got everyone pretty pumped for her grand arrival with this Instagram story. Behind them the action, the catchy song Viens on essaie by French artist Vitaa and Julien Doré provided a happy vibe.
In a light-hearted moment at the event, Markle posed the question in French, “Qu’est ce que tu veux être quand tu quittes l’école?” showcasing her ability to engage with the local culture.
