England’s Red Roses Triumph in 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup

Closer to home, the England women’s rugby team—also called the Red Roses—marked an unprecedented success in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. They overwhelmed their hosts Canada, clinching a decisive 33-13 victory in a thoroughly professional performance. With this victory, they won their third World Cup title. By making it back to the quarterfinals for the seventh time, they’ve further established the dominance that they’ve shown as a women’s rugby powerhouse.

Even before the tournament began, the Red Roses had taken first place in the world rankings. They touted an astounding 32 game winning streak! They absolutely ran Canada off of the field scoring five tries. Their skills and teamwork really dazzled in the final match. This win comes after their strong second-place showing in the 2021 cup. In that competition, hosted in 2022, they played New Zealand in the final, ultimately losing the contest.

The Red Roses’ victory unleashed jubilant scenes across the country, with King Charles and Queen Camilla congratulating both teams on their performances. In a collaborative statement, they reflected on the importance of getting to this point at such a high level in the sport.
