Loblaw appears to have fully adopted the new provincial regulations as of August 2023. Since then, they’ve made the leap from a successful pilot program to full-blown commercial operations. Loblaw’s head of sustainability, Rob Wiebe, said this increased fleet will have positive impacts. He added that running more autonomous trucks will enable Loblaw to deliver orders to customers faster and more often. This policy adjustment will help prioritize service levels while increasing efficiencies in operations. When fully implemented, the autonomous truck service will benefit more than 300 Loblaw stores across Ontario, providing them with the timely and reliable deliveries they need.
