Duchess of Kent. She died quietly, full of years and honors, in her residence, Kensington Palace, on the 4th September. The Duchess was married to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent – a cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Later life In her later years, she focused more on education, arts, sciences, humanities and personally embraced her interest in photography.
Born on February 22, 1933, Katharine Worsley married the future Prince Edward of Kent in 1961. In 2002, she moved to declare her independence in a big way. She indeed relinquished her HRH title in favor of being called Mrs. Kent. The Duchess retreated from royal duties to spend over a decade teaching music at a state primary school in Hull, where she made a significant impact on her students’ lives.
In 1994, the Duchess converted to Catholicism, becoming the first member of the royal family to do so in more than 300 years. Her faith was the compass that guided her life, shaped her values, and informed her priorities.
The Duchess had requested that her funeral be conducted at Westminster Cathedral. This church, when built, will be the largest Roman Catholic church in England and Wales. The Cardinal Requiem mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster.

The Duchess is survived by her three children: George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews, who is 63 years old, Lady Helen Taylor, aged 61, and Lord Nicholas Windsor, who is 55. Lady Helen Taylor has four children with her husband, Timothy Taylor: Columbus, Cassius, Eloise, and Estella. Children George Windsor’s children are Edward Windsor, Lord Downpatrick, Lady Marina Windsor, and Lady Amelia Windsor.
The funeral arrangements reflect not only her wishes but the deep respect and love her family and the royal institution hold for her memory. Preparations for the requiem mass are underway. Family and friends will come together to pay tribute, celebrating her unyielding devotion to her family and indomitable spirit in serving her community.
