Royal Engagements Highlight Active Week for European Monarchs

Queen Mary and Queen Maxima have both made headlines this week with their respective royal engagements in Copenhagen and the Netherlands. Their backgrounds speak to the depth and breadth of advocacy and public service that exists across sectors including research, sustainable construction, and many more.

This evening, Queen Mary will be in Copenhagen for the Carlsberg Foundation’s Research Awards. She will be joined on stage by the recipients of the nation’s highest awards for scientific and technological achievements—the National Medals of Science and Technology. Her presence guarantees a glorious impact. She’ll make headlines not only for her place in the ceremony, but for her stylish outfit, which will include a denim shirt.

Earlier in the week, Queen Mary had officially opened Nature Week at Ryvangens Nature Park. This event focuses on increasing public understanding and appreciation for nature. The Queen’s participation is a testament to her commitment to environmental advocacy and community involvement.

At the same time, her counterpart — Queen Maxima of the Netherlands — has been busily lavishing attention on public events and forums. On a recent visit to sustainable construction sites managed by the Dutch Water, Traffic and Environment Service, she showcased her commitment to sustainability and innovative building practices. On this particular visit, she swapped her lime green stilettos for a solid pair of safety work boots. This decision further emphasizes her down-to-earth attitude toward royal responsibilities.

Queen Maxima wore a wonderful green top and white pants for her visit, making a memorable fashion statement. She eventually traded her tailored suit for high-viz coveralls and work boots to walk the job sites. Her engaged participation spotlights the critical need for innovative, sustainable practices in our vast building and infrastructure development industry.

The Queen’s daughter, the Princess Royal, Anne, eagerly anticipating returning this week to in-person engagements. Her first official visit will involve engagements in Gloucestershire. She will officially open the Blackbridge Charitable Community Benefit Society Community and Sports Hub. This new facility will improve community connections through inclusive sport and recreation programs.

The Princess Royal will pay a visit to Freemans Event Partners to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Today’s visit is part of her ongoing dedication to highlighting the positive impact that local businesses and community organizations have created. She will visit the Gloucestershire Engineering Training Higher Education Facility Unit. Her visit serves as a strong reminder of her commitment to education and vocational training.
