An Emmy-nominated documentary reality series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is about to return for its third season on Hulu, premiering on November 13. The new season looks like it will dig deep into the complicated, starkly different lives of Mormon women. This underrepresented group has enchanted audiences across the globe with their distinct narratives and adversity.
The series’ cast is varied and intentionally chosen. Included in their number are Taylor Frankie Paul, Demi Engemann, Jen Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, Miranda McWhorter and Whitney Leavitt. In one woman’s reality, it’s unmistakable that perceptions of safety vary. Collectively, they knit together a robust quilt of experiences that the show explores.
Season 3 will be released all at once, ten episodes in total, following the binge-watching habit of today’s audiences. This provides fans the flexibility to binge-watch the entire series at their convenience! In 2020, after originally debuting on streaming service Hulu, the show picked up a widespread cult following. It’s hugely popular with the momfluencers of the #MomTok community, including those of the powerful Mormon mom mafia.
The new season is poised to tackle challenging themes as it sheds light on the interpersonal dynamics within the group. Viewers will get to see a major friendship crisis play out on screen. Loyalties will change, and trust will be broken amongst the members of the cast.
“The members face a crisis of friendship as loyalties shift, trust is tested, and the lines between fact and fiction blur.” – Hulu
Season 3 will get into the ethical challenges posed by the women, as tempers flare and the story heats up.
“When the pursuit of the truth calls character into question, a war over morality begins and a clash between #Momtok and #Dadtok erupts.” – Hulu
As the women struggle to overcome these hurdles, the price for failure grows ever higher. The future of their sisterhood rests in the balance as they work towards resolution through their shared heartbreak.
“With their sisterhood and everything they’ve built hanging in the balance, can the women find a path forward to salvation? Or will their collective sins destroy #Momtok for good?” – Hulu
