James Middleton’s Son Inigo Forms Bond with Family’s Dogs and Cherished Sculpture

It comes after James Middleton gave a sweet sneak peek into his family life. He announced his son Inigo, born in September 2023, with joy and pride. Inigo has formed a particularly close connection with the family’s dogs. Visitors are particularly enamored by a sculpture of Ella, a much-loved cocker spaniel who passed away earlier this year.

Inigo’s parents, James Middleton and Alizée Thevenet, are obviously creating a welcoming space where love and happy memories abound. Ella was of great solace to James as he succumbed to depression. Her indomitable spirit continues to inspire the rest of the family after her tragic loss in January 2023. To her memory James, that the memory of Ella remain present in their home.

One of the unexpected outcomes of this project has been Inigo’s growing interest in a sculpture of Ella made by artist Stephen Pettifer. The sculpture continues to be a source of comfort and inspiration as a public reminder of the love Ella brought into their lives. Welcoming the sculpture with the usual sunny “bonjour” is none other than Inigo. This sweet gesture is a reflection of his increasing love for his mother’s French culture as well as the family dog.

“As it’s international dog day I thought I would share with you a beautiful sculpture of Ella by the incredibly talented Stephen Pettifer.” – James Middleton

Along with his bond with the sculpture, Inigo enjoys tender interactions with the family’s dogs, especially Isla. Photos show him with his arm around Isla, holding her tight, showing flashes of the exuberant connection between them.

For Inigo, that special pendant is a simple brooch honoring his mother. It contains a picture of Ella and deepens his connections to the adopted dog. Recently, James shared an endearing image of Inigo’s tiny hand clutching the pendant, illustrating the deep affection he has for Ella’s memory.

It’s not just these planned outings. Middleton and his family love to be outside, going on hikes with their dogs whenever they can. Inigo’s adventurous spirit Complimenting this adventurous spirit is Inigo’s personality, which James describes as “cheeky. He was last photographed at home in Windsor wearing a bright blue top and bright green short dungarees. In one light-hearted scene he attempted to shove Alizée into a pond.

“My adventurous (and cheeky) little boy. How are you nearly 2 already? Everyone says it goes fast…but I didn’t realise it would be this fast.” – James Middleton

Inigo is learning and developing daily. He’s leaning into his family’s tradition of love for dogs and full on dog dad vibes, as well as excitedly learning his mother’s first language. It’s clear from his relationship with those dogs that they provide a loving home. It inspires joy, adventure, and beautiful memories of their late, beloved friend, Ella.
