Cadillac Welcomes Perez and Bottas as its New F1 Lineup for 2026 Season

This is hugely exciting news from Cadillac! They’ve recruited Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas to be their opening driver line-up for the first 2026 Formula One season. Both drivers are 35 years old and pack a ton of experience. Combined, they have amassed more than 500 race starts representing the American team. This strategic move follows their announced exits from Red Bull and Sauber in 2024. It leads to a thrilling new phase in their professional lives.

Sergio Perez, with 281 Formula One starts and six Grand Prix victories, has established himself as a formidable competitor on the track. He competed with Max Verstappen at Red Bull for a number of championship winning seasons. Along the way, he amassed an incredible record of 106 podium finishes. At the same time, Valtteri Bottas can point to his 246 GP starts and ten GP wins from his time with Mercedes. After departing Sauber, he was a reserve driver this past season.

Cadillac considers this collaborative effort to be an important move to plant its flag in the growing Formula One landscape. Both drivers, whose home base will be here in the U.S., have signed multiyear deals with the team, signaling their commitment to this ambitious project.

In statements regarding the announcement, Dan Towriss noted a strong belief in the outcome of the endeavor. He noted that there was initial scepticism about the team’s capabilities but affirmed that both drivers passed the team’s evaluations with flying colors.

“It’s the right combination – the right drivers at the right time – and we’re humbled by their belief in us in this project.” – Dan Towriss

Valtteri Bottas noted what a special opportunity it is to have joined Cadillac at this pivotal moment. He stressed that having the opportunity to be part of a project that will be built from the ground up is a thrilling prospect.

“This isn’t just a racing project; it’s a long-term vision. It’s not every day that you get a chance to be part of something being built from the ground up and helping shape it into something that truly belongs on the F1 grid.” – Valtteri Bottas

Sergio Perez echoed similar sentiments, expressing pride in contributing to Cadillac’s ambitious goals.

“I’m proud to be part of such an ambitious and meaningful project from the very beginning.” – Sergio Perez

Together, they’ve earned over 106 career podium finishes. Their outstanding track record speaks to their ability to raise the overall performance of our national team on the world stage.
