A Brampton lawyer, identified as PJ Mann, is facing serious allegations of defrauding multiple complainants out of more than $3 million. Mann is the Principal of PJ Mann Law, which is based at 214-5 Brisdale Drive. Today, local police are arresting him and leading a criminal investigation into him.
The Law Society of Ontario stripped Mann of his law license less than a month ago. Now, they are looking into his conduct under the pretext of investigating him for new allegations. This decision came after a chamber decision from a disciplinary tribunal that ruled Mann had “deliberately tried to mislead the Law Society in an investigation.” In addition, as part of the disciplinary measures against him, he was required to pay a $24,000 penalty.
Authorities allege that Mann “knowingly assisted fraud or dishonesty when acting on real estate transactions involving two properties.” Peel Region investigators are asking for the public’s assistance. The lasting financial damage to complainants has further called into question Mann’s business practices.
CityNews has not heard back from representatives for both Mann and PJ Mann Law despite numerous requests. His firm’s reticence raises deeper questions about the way Mann’s law firm does business. It further calls into question what exactly the allegations against him are, as the Senate is proposing.
Local authorities are taking a new hard look at the ongoing investigation. Specifically, they’re interested in exposing the scale of Mann’s purportedly fraudulent behavior. Police are appealing for anyone who may have information, however small, to do so and help bring clarity to this disturbing case.
With this investigation still unfolding, the damage caused by Mann’s actions is rapidly becoming clear. The financial consequences felt by many of the complainants show how credible and concerning these allegations are. This can have far-reaching consequences for the veterans at stake.
