Virginia Giuffre’s family has publicly expressed their shock following recent comments made by former President Donald Trump regarding Jeffrey Epstein. The comments have set off quite a controversy. They argue that Epstein “stole” Giuffre, making room for a disgusting re-litigation of his black book connections and accusations against him. Epstein, who was charged with sex trafficking and assault, died in jail in a controversial June 2019 prison death. His death, unfortunately, left a twisted web of connections and much fruit still left to be tasted.
Trump’s ties to Epstein have been under intense media examination for decades. The recent ex president has called for the release of all federal grand jury records related to Epstein. This call has raised eyebrows throughout the House and Senate investigations still ongoing. The American people are desperate for answers to the epidemic of abuse that powered Epstein’s entire network. In a subsequent outcry, the FBI and the Department of Justice admitted they had discovered no evidence of any such “client list” associated with the deceased financier.
Epstein’s Troubling Legacy
Because as you may know, Jeffrey Epstein was very much a man about elite circles— mingling and hobnobbing with presidents and royalty and supermodels, Oh My! His legacy is marred by allegations of exploiting young women, including those he allegedly hired from his Mar-a-Lago resort. Giuffre is one of dozens who accused Epstein of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, saying she was recruited as a minor into Epstein’s trafficking network.
Even Trump has called Epstein’s behavior “terrible.” He announced that he took action against Epstein when he learned that the financier was apparently poaching staff from Mar-a-Lago.
“I don’t know really why, but I said, if he’s taking anybody from Mar-a-Lago — he’s hiring or whatever he is doing — I didn’t like it. And we threw him out. We said, ‘We don’t want him at the place.’” – Donald Trump
Giuffre’s family expressed their frustration at Trump’s comments. They called his invocation of their sister shocking and have since called for him to explain what his statements mean and what they could lead to.
“It was shocking to hear President Trump invoke our sister and say that he was aware that Virginia had been ‘stolen’ from Mar-a-Lago.” – Virginia Giuffre’s family
Ghislaine Maxwell’s Role
Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime assistant and confidante of Epstein, is in the midst of a 20-year federal prison sentence. She was convicted of her role in helping him commit his crimes. Her case is still a cause célèbre today. She has publicly promised to testify before Congress in exchange for a pardon and is currently petitioning the Supreme Court to review her case.
The question mark over Maxwell’s role only deepens the intrigue that has come to define Epstein. There is hope among advocates that her testimony could offer key information about the scope and scale of Epstein’s operations. Meanwhile, Giuffre’s family continues to advocate for victims’ rights.
“Ghislaine Maxwell is a monster who deserves to rot in prison for the rest of her life.” – Virginia Giuffre’s family
The FBI and DOJ assured the public that, despite extensive searches, they found no such client list during their investigation into Epstein. As Attorney General Pam Bondi stated, certain materials involving Epstein cannot be released due to them including sensitive details about the victims.
Ongoing Investigations and Public Demands
As the investigations into Epstein’s heinous activities go on, advocacy groups, victims, and the general public are urging transparency. In recent months under Trump’s administration, officials have made hundreds of documents public related to Epstein. Yet what these disclosures accomplished was to obscure low dollar, high impact projects.
Virginia Giuffre’s family isn’t only looking for recognition. In so doing, they are bringing an enormous amount of pressure to bear to demand accountability and deliver answers for survivors.
