Iconic Wrestler Hulk Hogan Passes Away at 70

Terry Gene Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan, died on July 24, 2023, at 70 years old. According to the autopsy report, the wrestling legend died as a result of acute myocardial infarction—more commonly referred to as a heart attack. Incredibly, this tragic story played out in his hometown of Clearwater, Florida. Emergency responders were quickly on the scene of a cardiac arrest call, minutes before 10 a.m. that day. He was later taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Hogan’s primary care physician, who cared for him for many years, has verified his passing. His recent passing at the age of 57 broke the hearts of fans and the wrestling community around the world. Hogan’s act was his larger-than-life persona. He was instrumental in taking World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) mainstream and worldwide, including creating stars and drawing huge crowds in the 1980s. His amazing legacy began when he started his career in professional wrestling in 1977. Since then, he’s made history as one of the biggest stars in World Wrestling Federation—now WWE—as well as World Championship Wrestling and Impact Wrestling.

Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily, is his only survivor. They were wed in 2023, and he is survived by two children—daughter Brooke and son Nick. Following his passing, Hogan’s family released a statement on social media expressing their grief:

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend.”

Sky Daily didn’t hold back in sharing her raw feelings on social media. She shared that Hogan had to deal with a number of health issues leading up to his death. She did not disclose specifics but expressed her disbelief at the loss:

“He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time.”

In her emotional tribute, Sky Daily described the profound impact Hogan had on her life:

“This loss is sudden and impossible to process. To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart.”

The professional wrestling world has lost a true icon. WWE acknowledged the impact of Hogan’s contributions to the sport, stating:

“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.”

Hogan’s legacy is more than his 30 championship reigns. It’s the mark he left on the lives of millions throughout his four-decade career. As fans and family mourn his incredible life and celebrate a dazzling career, we remember the momentous hugs he left behind.
