King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have returned to Grasten Palace, in South Jutland, for their summer retreat. This spectacular royal residence has been the summer home of the Danish royals since 1935. This will be their first public undertaking since early July, when they stepped back from their royal duties.
While away, their mother, Queen Margrethe (the king’s mother), has served as regent, carrying out the ceremonial duties of a royal in Denmark. Crown Prince Christian, the king’s oldest son, has assumed regent duties. He fills in whenever his dad takes a vacation, which is often. The royal family spent some time away in Château de Cayx in Cahors. King Frederik and Queen Mary adored simple family time with their 14-year-old twins, Prince Vincent & Princess Josephine.
The newlywed couple arrives at Grasten Palace, setting into motion a return to their summer seasonal routine. Often, it’s the first time they get to hang out with local residents. King Frederik and Queen Mary are expected to engage with the community during their stay. We all look forward to a wonderful engagement! The Danish royal family have a very close relationship with Grasten Palace.
