Two teachers from Ribston Hall High School in Gloucestershire have been prohibited from the profession. Their disciplinary action comes after the two-year relationship, which involved lewd exchanges and sexual conduct on school grounds. This placed educators Liyarna Beamish and Gareth Collins on the grammar school for girls and created a national sensation. They were accused of misconduct on school grounds during school hours.
On June 26, 2024, an unnamed third party reached out to Collins High School to inform them of the inappropriate relationship between Beamish and Collins. The tip indicated that the two had housed sexual relations on the school’s property. Initially, Beamish rejected the accusations. After our Tribune exclusive forced her hand, she finally admitted to the affair, confessing that it included repeated sexual encounters in the art room and TWO art cupboards.
The state panel that reviewed the case concluded that the actions of both teachers showed an extreme lack of professionalism. Specifically, their actions included sending and receiving explicit messages on company time, evidenced by work hours in which the messages were sent, as seen in screenshots. That finding was reached because the panel found that Beamish and Collins both knowingly participated in the wrongdoing. This discovery was made even after Beamish’s assertion that Collins had “emotionally coerced” her into the affair.
The findings were serious. The panel found that Beamish’s behavior constituted “extremely severe and persistent acts of misconduct.” This represents a deep violation of the ethical codes under which teachers are meant to operate. Equally as important, they cited that Collins’s actions rose well below the standard of professionalism.
Disgraced actor Gareth Collins, pictured, has pleaded guilty to feeling “some angst” about his deed. The panel determined that both teachers should be banned from teaching. They can seek to have the ban set aside after two years.
