New Youth Hub to Empower Young People on Ipswich Waterfront

4YP is a girls and young people’s charity focused on promoting empowerment for better decision-making. It is now due to move into a new permanent youth centre within Ipswich Borough Council’s Regatta Quay building on the very Ipswich waterfront Suffolk. That move is supposed to be finished by 2026. These changes are intended to improve accessibility and develop a flagship space for youth within the community.

Now located on Lower Brook Street, 4YP has run from its current home for the best part of a decade. The anchor arts organization is relocating to the Regatta Quay building. This community space will be restored and upgraded to ensure a welcoming and useful gathering place for youth. It’s salutary as well,” said Chief Executive Rebekah Warnock as she looked ahead to the new frequent transit hub’s anticipated opening. She dreams of attracting its first visitors by this time next year.

Regatta Quay’s waterfront setting is deemed “prominent” and one of the perfect places for the youth hub. Its immediate location next to the University of Suffolk is set to make the building a highly accessible experience for both students and locals. Warnock began by underscoring the importance of this place. It will serve as a blueprint to ensure these places become central hubs where young people can find all the support they need.

This new hub seeks to be more than a physical space. Warnock imagines a nurturing space for youth to thrive. Here, they can meaningfully engage with trusted youth workers and counselors while receiving vital services.

“It’ll be a place where young people can drop in and get support from youth workers and counsellors and other services.” – Rebekah Warnock

Moreover, the facility will offer private rooms for counseling sessions and spaces for various activities, ranging from sports to creative crafts. The intent behind this is to provide a culture of support and empowerment that invites engagement and nurtures individual development.

“It’ll be a place where they can meet and have their counselling sessions in private rooms. Where they can do other activities – it could be sporting activities, it could be craft and creative activities.” – Rebekah Warnock

The new hub is intended to empower young people by involving them in decision-making processes that affect their lives and communities. This is point of 4YP’s mission — to demonstrate to these young people that they are respected and valued members of society.

“They can be part of decision-making, changing processes, and being part of their community.” – Rebekah Warnock
