Mantra Softech Achieves Milestone with U.S. Patent for Innovative Optical Fingerprint Scanner

Mantra Softech, a prominent player in biometric authentication and identity management technology, has secured a United States Utility Patent (Patent No. US 12,315,287 B2) for its cutting-edge invention titled “Optical Fingerprint Scanner and Method for Detecting Optical Coherent Gating Liveness.” The company’s headquarter is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is the vendor of choice for more than 15,000 clients worldwide including government departments, financial institutions, telecom operators and private companies.

This patented technology, based on a dual-path optical configuration, improves the reliability and security of fingerprint scanning. By combining the latest imaging methods, Mantra Softech strives to invent and create solutions that enable stricter biometric verification processes. This patent announcement represents a huge milestone. It highlights their efforts to ensure they are offering the most innovative solutions available in biometric technology today.

Innovative Technology Behind the Patent

The special optical fingerprint scanner that Mantra Softech created uses dual paths for capturing the image. The second path scans a planar external fingerprint image. In the latter, instead of a tunable laser source, a broadband light source is used, combined with a Michelson interferometer configuration. This second route accurately snaps the internal microstructure of the finger’s subsurface. It provides additional security and authenticity to recognition functionality, especially fingerprint recognition.

This two-fold method gives the system the ability to authenticate not only the external fingerprint but the internal features of the finger. Consequently, it is more difficult for would-be fraudsters to reproduce or fake biometric data. Today we, Mantra Softech are establishing a new benchmark in biometric authentication. They accomplish this by combining traditional light and broadband light sources for imaging.
