One of the hardest working members of the royal family, Princess Anne, celebrated her 75th birthday on August 15, 2025. We’re marking this landmark achievement with the launch of a new limited-edition commemorative coin. Titled the “Anne-iversary coin,” it celebrates her extraordinary legacy and her lifelong commitment to public service. Fans of the Princess Royal have welcomed the coin as a tribute to her indefatigable devotion to her royal duties.
One of the most modest, down-to-earth, and hardest-working members of the royal family, Princess Anne is unapologetically outspoken. Just in 2024, she has conducted close to 400 official engagements. Her tireless work and dedication have created a tremendous reputation and love for the work she’s done. So much so that most observers consider her an essential component of King Charles III’s pared down working monarchy. To these remarkable accomplishments, we add Princess Anne for her decades of lavish public service. Both incidents would present enormous challenges for any person, though in 2024 a horse kicked her, requiring an emergency evacuation to intensive care and the necessary hospital rebuilding interfered with her life.
A Legacy of Service
During her decades of public service, Princess Anne has been an unwavering pillar of support for her mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Equally important, she has provided stability in the royal family. As seen through her countless engagements and her dedication to other charitable organizations, her commitment to duty is unyielding. Her commitment is a testament to her community roots. More than that, it sheds light on the unspoken pressures of being part of the royal family.
Mr Docherty said you can’t help but admire the Princess Royal. He wrote it in honor of her 75th birthday.
“I wanted to capture Her Royal Highness’s remarkable legacy and dedication to public service. The portrait reflects her strength of character and unwavering commitment to duty.” – Mr. Docherty
The reverse of the coin features a beautiful profile portrait of Princess Anne. She is proud to be decorated in an aquamarine pendant and matching earrings, made out of stones from a tiara that was reborn in the 1990s. Princess Patricia wears a magnificent art deco-style diamond and aquamarine Cartier tiara in the portrait. This stunning work was originally commissioned by King George VI as a wedding anniversary present to the future Queen Elizabeth. Princess Anne was given this tiara as a wedding gift from her grandmother in 1973.
Public Response
Celebrating the release of the Anne-iversary coin, fans have shown boisterous enthusiastic support. No wonder then, that so many have flooded the internet with messages about how much they love Princess Anne and what she’s done for public life. One fan remarked:
“Love love love this! So well deserved! Another fab example of a life of service in honor, dignity and grace! Rock on Princess Royal!!!!” – A fan
Another commentator emphasized the significance of the coin in celebrating Princess Anne’s character and achievements:
“She’s an absolute treasure and a shining example of true strength and selfless service to others – I hope I can add this to my collection.” – A commentator
The positive reactions highlight not only the affection fans have for Princess Anne but the respect she has garnered throughout her life.
The Artistic Vision
Mr. Docherty’s design for the coin reflects his understanding of Princess Anne’s unique role within the royal family as well as her impact on both the nation and the Commonwealth. To hear him tell it, it’s easy to see how he drew motivation from her quiet grace and fortitude.
“It was really by observing Princess Anne and looking at the role she plays within not only her family but the nation and the Commonwealth that formed inspiration for the design of the coin.” – Mr. Docherty
This delightful commemorative piece stands at the intersection of artistry and personal significance. It’s a moment that not only perfectly encapsulates Princess Anne’s persona, but the spirit of her 70+ years of service.
