Danone U.S. today announced a voluntary recall of seventeen YoCrunch products. This action is a precautionary response to any possibility that small plastic fragments could be found in the dome topper. This recall affects all consumers who have bought these yogurt products which come in a pair of connected cups. One tub contains the creamy yogurt foundation of all good frozen yogurts. The other, a separately sealed cake topper, is filled with amazing things like Oreo crumbles, mini M&M’s, Snickers and Twix.
The move follows an earlier investigation by Consumer Reports, which found that plastic pieces may be in the toppers. These chunks, which range in size from 7 to 25 mm long, are a choking hazard to consumers. Today, Danone U.S. issued a clarification, stating that the problem is confined to the separate, packaged topper. The yogurt itself is not the problem.
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled YoCrunch products are urged not to eat them. Danone U.S. is in contact with retail partners and working tirelessly with them to proactively pull impacted items from store shelves. The company is committed to resolving the situation as quickly as possible and getting YoCrunch’s most popular products back on store shelves for all of YoCrunch’s fans to enjoy.
For consumers who want more complete details about the recall or refund process, Danone U.S. has set up a special consumer care hotline. This new line will be open M-F 9am-6pm ET at 844-344-4886.
