A residential special school in Surrey has been rated “outstanding” by Ofsted after a recent, full inspection carried out last March. This significant recognition reflects the school’s commitment to providing quality education and care for its students, aged 12 to 19.
Inspectors highlighted the school’s “safe, vibrant and inclusive environment,” which fosters positive growth and development for all students. The report praised the quality of the school’s leaders and managers, who received an overall rating of “good.” That’s a positive step up from the last year rated in 2024, demonstrating the school’s continued commitment to raising educational achievement.
The school’s residential provision is integral to the school’s therapeutic ethos, and in meeting students’ complex needs. Our therapists painlessly teach students, fitting communication, emotional self-regulation, and sensory strategies into students’ everyday routines. This personal cultivation has been a successful recipe for allowing students to flourish during their educational career and beyond.
Carolyn Meakings, head of residential services at the school, said she was immensely proud of what the school had achieved.

The Ofsted inspectors particularly praised the transformational progress achieved since the previous inspection. Their recognition of the school’s efforts underscores the importance of a collaborative approach in providing specialized education and support to vulnerable students.
