Meghan Markle Shares Parenting Insights and Weekend Activities of Archie and Lilibet

Meghan Markle on the “Aspire with Emma Grede” podcast, recently released. From discussing her attachment parenting style to the key lessons she wants her kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to learn, Meghan opened up about so many aspects of motherhood. The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex underscored that it’s important to teach her kids about the “value of things.” She feels that is absolutely critical, particularly in times where privilege can easily interrupt the truth.

Markle’s reflections come on the heels of an incredible year. She was able to launch her new lifestyle brand, As Ever, and the first batch of products sold out in less than an hour. Throughout her time on the podcast, she stressed the need for financial literacy. She hopes Archie and Lilibet will understand how hard you have to work to deserve it.

They have to know that good manners and taking care of your environment counts. She made the important point that each type of work is valuable in its own right.

On weekends, Markle engages her children in hands-on activities, including selling produce from their garden at the local farmer’s market. The family grows a stunning variety of veggies in the Montecito home’s backyard. Archie and Lilibet both have their own child-sized gardening tools to assist them with the task. “Gardening is really, really so great for children because it teaches them patience and teaches them to value and appreciate their food,” Markle explained.

Along with her passion for gardening, Markle takes great pleasure in making packed school lunches for her children. She noted the therapeutic nature of this task, stating, “I love it at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at like 7ish. I can go downstairs, have a glass of wine, and I’m doing their little lunch.”

Markle shared the deep love she has for being an active mom, even with her hectic schedule. “This is such a key age. I don’t want to miss a moment for my children and I love that I can do drop off and pick up at school and do meetings in between,” she remarked.

The Duchess took this opportunity to shine a light on her own efforts to ensure her children have access to enriching experiences. She begs students to plant things that germinate quickly such as sugar snap peas and basil. This project creates a sense of pride and ownership to them as they see their plants thrive and grow.

“Our kids have real sets; they take their gardening very seriously,” – Meghan Markle
