Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard Humorously Pestering Adam Scott Over Severance Delays

Actor Adam Scott, known for his role as Mark in the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series Severance, recently shared a lighthearted exchange with fellow actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. This trio, who have previously collaborated on projects like Party Down and Parks and Recreation, engaged in a humorous conversation about the anticipated third season of Severance during Variety’s Actors on Actors series.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, avid fans of Severance, expressed their frustrations through a voice memo directed at Adam Scott. In this voicemail, the couple jokingly lamented the lengthy wait for new episodes, questioning why it takes so long to produce the series. Scott humorously recalled their inquiry during the second season’s filming, stating, “You guys called while we were in the midst of shooting season 2 and just said, ‘Hey, just curious, are you guys shooting this one minute per week?’”

Bell and Shepard, of course, continued the flirty, funny back-and-forth. He argued that it would require “at least seven years” for a new season to become available. In reply, Scott lightheartedly threatened to make the extension longer just to annoy them. “We’re sorry, your message just pushed the next season back seven years!” he faux-sulked. We’re looking forward to seeing you all—even if virtually!

Their comedic exchange reveals a deeper appreciation for Severance, which took three years to return after its first season wrapped. Show creator Dan Erickson has said he hopes to bring the third season to viewers sooner than the six-year wait for season two. This move has captured just as much attention as known by the rabid fan base.

“The endings to every episode of Severance are so biologically frustrating that I don’t know how you guys expect anyone to sleep after an episode with that level of a cliffhanger,” – Kristen Bell

Bell and Shepard voicemail style, inspirational person-to-inspirational person. More importantly, they take the time to express their disappointments to those whose efforts have failed to impress them. This habit is a great reflection of their passion for the shows they watch in depth like Severance.

The funniest moment of their discussion came when Bell, a longtime “It’s All Good” producer, made light of her pandemic-era leap out of a two-story window. This response caused Scott to joke-ask how she was “surviving” on social media. “I bet you’d like to know how she’s doing. I’ll tell you next week!” she exclaimed.

Additionally, Adam Scott’s humorous retort made it all the more clear about how competitive the three actors were towards each other. He explained why this is the best time for you to provide a long-overdue apology. It’s way past due that you and Dax respond to the voicemails you’ve left me. To which an ever-quick-witted Bell responded, “I’d make the effort, but I’m not a very talented actor.”
