Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Launch New Podcast ‘Summer Breeze’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos return to their soap opera roots! They produce audio dramas, and they recently premiered one of their new full-cast scripted podcasts, “Summer Breeze.” This 10-episode scripted audio drama is only available on Audible. It combines traditional soap opera mystique with a contemporary flair, paying homage to the legendary 1990s daytime television landscape that launched numerous careers.

In “Summer Breeze,” Ripa accomplishes something special by breathing life into Carolyn Harris, a long-lost soap star. Alongside him, Consuelos plays Gordon Ready, a deep-pocketed producer and kingmaker. The film’s plot follows a down-on-her-luck screenwriter, voiced by Sarah Steele, who gets her big break with the help of Gordon Ready. As she sails through the dangerous seas of stardom, she looks to Carolyn Harris for advice. This only occurs after her newfound friend reveals her plan to destroy Ready’s chance for dominance.

This family affair includes Michael Consuelos, the couple’s real-life son, who joins his parents in the animated voice cast. His contribution counts as one of the few on-mic collaborations between the three and serves to deepen the familial bond that resonates across the project.

“Summer Breeze” plunges the audience into the wacky, yet dangerous universe of a fictional daytime soap-opera, combining gut-wrenching drama and science fiction with the nostalgic flair of memory evoking soap tropes. We thought the podcast offered a really interesting and compelling new perspective on the soap opera format. It expresses the beauty and complexity of a family working together as an artistic unit.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are coming back to the stage that made them stars. They’re taking a big leap back into the world of “All My Children.” This new collaboration is a testament to all their fantastic talent. It speaks to their dedication to quality storytelling that entertains original fans and attracts new fans at the same time.
