Jennifer Lopez turned heads at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) with her electrifying opening performance. She beamed confidence, seduced the audience, and showcased her jaw-dropping stage presence. The lovely salon-style event, held on Memorial Day, showcased Lopez’s charms both as host and performer. This was her thrilling comeback to the AMAs, just the second time for her since hosting in 2015.
As the show commenced, Lopez delivered a high-energy dance routine set to a medley of this year’s most popular hits. She opened the show with a dramatic extraterrestrial-inspired helmet. As she moved into a remixed take on “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, she coolly tossed the helmet aside. Her performance included notable songs from various artists, such as Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Beyoncé.
Midway through her set, Lopez shocked the world by making out with a male backup dancer. Moments afterward, a female dancer came up on stage and continued the seductive scene by kissing Lopez too. In one highpoint, a goal-scoring Magenta wigged dancer spun gracefully towards her. It was so close, their lips practically brushed, which added an extra layer of delicious seduction dangling between them.
Lopez’s show-stopping performance included a fiery rendition of her 2012 single “Dance Again.” The crowd went bananas as she and her dancers snapped and squealed to the snappy tunes. They provided fresh energy to giant hits such as “Espresso” (Carpenter). Her expressiveness and flamboyance were purpose-built to immerse listeners and honor the exuberance of new music.
Then, after her high-energy set, Lopez paused to reflect with the crowd.
“I had to kick things off, you know that, turning it up to the biggest songs of the year and dancing my heart out for all of you,” – Jennifer Lopez
Following her remarks, she saluted the nation’s veterans in honor of Memorial Day, adding a poignant touch to the evening’s festivities.
During her entire show from start to finish, Lopez proved she’s one of the most talented people in both fields, singing and dancing. Her ability to connect with the audience and create an electric atmosphere solidified her status as one of the premier entertainers in the music industry.
