Prince William Draws Inspiration from David Attenborough for New Wildlife Documentary Series

Prince William has publicly credited veteran naturalist David Attenborough as a significant influence on his new series of wildlife documentary films. His Royal Highness praised Attenborough’s deft ability to bring the beauty of our planet to the screen. He hopes his own series does the same for all of its viewers. The announcement follows William’s attendance at a private screening of Attenborough’s recent film, “Ocean,” earlier this May.

As a child, Prince William was inspired by Attenborough’s work. He articulated this sentiment during a recent event, declaring, “David Attenborough – big inspiration for me growing up and being able to present wonderful parts of the world to many of us most of us will never get a chance to visit, and I hope this does the same kind of thing.”

Attenborough’s contributions to wildlife conservation have played a pivotal role in shaping Prince William’s own environmental efforts. Since the Earthshot Prize was launched, Attenborough has stepped in to boost and amplify this new prize awarder. It’s a competition to develop cutting-edge approaches to our most pressing environmental problems. Their joint dedication to protecting wildlife highlights a willingness to work together that is necessary to tackle our most urgent conservation challenges.

In his remarks, Prince William underscored the importance of telling the stories of those who work tirelessly to protect the environment. He stated, “I’ve had the privilege of meeting a number of rangers throughout my life, and have seen firsthand the vital work they do. Yet their stories are often overlooked or misunderstood.” It’s time to shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes who help to protect, restore and manage our shared public lands and waters.

And finally, Prince William, to his credit, recognized the dangers that lie in wait for all those who are devoted to protecting the environment. He noted, “The reality is that protecting our natural world has become one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet.” His remarks reflect an acute understanding of all the dangers that accompany wildlife preservation. They underscore how important their work really is.

The relationship between Prince William and David Attenborough goes way past career respect. In 2019, both William and his wife Kate Middleton were photographed alongside Attenborough, illustrating their longstanding respect for his contributions to nature documentaries.
